INTRODUCTION
This booklet is meant to be a help in conversations with Jehovah’s witnesses.
It is mainly a collection of Bible texts which refute their errors.
The citations are taken from their own Bible: the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures (2010) – ’funny’ to this latest translation is that if the 144,000 ‘anointed’ Jehovah’s witnesses think they are concerned, they use capital letters, but when referring to the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit no capital letters are used.
Texts that are clearly different from the Protestant or Catholic translations and therefore have lost their ‘probative value’ (for Jehovah’s witnesses) are not included. For example, inJohn there is written: ” … and the word was God “, but in their translation: “and the word was a god” (but actually the original text says: “… and God was the word”. With this collection of Bible texts we could attack them, but that is not the intention of course. God loves everyone.
Something that can touch them are the personal testimonies of those who experience a personal contact with God; testimonies of answers of praying, inner healing, etc., things that they themselves never or rarely experience.
Not all aspects of their errors are treated here, but only the main deceptions, those we can hear when we open our doors for them.
What stands out the most to them, is their name: Jehovah’s witnesses. Where does this name Jehovah come from?
The original language of the Hebrew knows only consonants. The name of God was written like this: YHWH. The Jews since Nehemiah don’t pronounce His name any more for fear of God. Instead, they said: Adonaj, what means Lord (the Protestants have continued this radition).
To indicate that Adonaj had to be pronounced where YHWH was written, the Masoretes (Bible writers of 200-1400 AD) added the vowels of Adonaj between the consonants of YHWH – which gives as result: JHoWaH (the first A was not insert, probably because it wasn‘t accentuated). The pronunciation Jehovah is therefore a mistake. Most likely the pronunciation was Yahweh. In the word hallelu-ja, what means all glory to God, the last syllable denotes God: ‘Jah’-weh. There are more words ending on jah (see e.g. Revelation 19:4 from their version).
This fact isn’t very important, but it is interesting to know …
The main errors are:
- Everything revolves around the name Jehovah and not around the name of Jesus
- Jesus is not God, but the Angel Michael, who became son of God by the baptism byJohn the Baptist
- The Holy Spirit is not a (divine) person, but a divine energy
The message of reconciliation is not the central message- Jesus ‘ body is not risen from the dead and our bodies will not either
- The satan has ruled from 607 BC to 1914 AD. And Jesus returned 1 October 1914 and the believers who passed away were resurrected that day
- Earth and heaven will not literally be destroyed by fire
- Hell as an eternal punishment does not exist
- Death means to be completely without consciousness
- Israel has no place in God’s plan of salvation
- The 144,000 in Revelation. 7:4 forms an elite group of the Jehovah’s witnesses; the multitude that no one can count is a part of the other Jehovah’s witnesses
- Only the 144,000 will enter into the new Jerusalem, will be the bride of Christ, may participate at the Last Supper, are sons of God, are filled with the Holy Spirit and will reign as kings in the millennial
- The Watchtower is the channel of pure Bible explanation …
The message of reconciliation is not the central messageEach chapter in this booklet begins with a statement of the Watchtower society, followed by answers from God’s Word.
My sheep hear my voice, says Jesus. The sheep from the flock of the Jehovah’s witnesses listen to the voice of the Watchtower. It is a life of slavery and not of grace. Many of them have no personal contact with God. The peace and joy and liberating power we experience is something we have to share with them.

Witnesses of Jehovah or witnesses of Jesus?
Christians in the New Testament were never called Jehovah’s witnesses; you can’t even find the name Jehovah (Yahweh) in the New Testament. Jehovah’s witnesses have the name Jehovah in the New Testament as a translation of the Greek word ‘Kurios’, which means ‘Lord’, also a little mistake…
In Isaiah 44:8 there is written: You are my witnesses (Jehovah’s witnesses base their name on this text), but there Yahweh was speaking solely to the people of Israel.

YOU will be witnesses of me, Jesus said.

When the helper arrives that I will send YOU from the Father, the spirit of the truth, which proceeds from the Father, that one will bear witness about me …

Would a Jehovah’s witness have reacted in that way?

Jahweh is the Creator

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS NOT A PERSON (?)
The holy Spirit can be grieved, He speaks, forbids, thinks, teaches, convinces, leads, glorifies. Is an energie capable tot do this?

MIRACLES AND GIFTS FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT ARE PASSED (?)
1 Cor. 12:7-10
But the manifestation of the spirit is given to each one for a beneficial purpose. For example, to one there is given through the spirit speech of wisdom, to another speech of knowledge according to the same spirit, to another faith by the same spirit, to another gifts of healings by that one spirit, to yet another operations of powerful works, to another prophesying, to another discernment of inspired utterances, to another different tongues, and to another interpretation of tongues.
Where is it written that these gifts will be taken away from the church on a certain moment?
1 Cor. 13:8-10
Love never fails. But whether there are [gifts of] prophesying, they will be done away with; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will be done away with.
Knowledge still exists, also the rest too.
Matt. 21:21-22
Jesus said to them: “Truly I say to YOU, If only YOU have faith and do not doubt, not only will YOU do what I did to the fig tree, but also if YOU say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and cast into the sea,’ it will happen. And all the things YOU ask in prayer, having faith, YOU will receive.”
And why not believe that God wants to heal us?

And “by his stripes YOU were healed.

Jesus said to him: “That expression, ‘If you can’! Why, all things can be to one if one has faith.”
PREACHING OF RECONCILIATION IS NOT A CENTRAL THEME (?)
Acts 2:38
Peter [said] to them: “Repent, and let each one of YOU be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for forgiveness of YOUR sins, and YOU will receive the free gift of the holy spirit.
2 Cor. 5:18-20
But all things are from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of the reconciliation,
“Become reconciled to God.”

… and on the basis of his name repentance for forgiveness of sins would be preached in all the nations …

Consequently he was obliged to become like his “brothers” in all respects, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, in order to offer propitiatory sacrifice for the sins of the people.

… unless blood is poured out no forgiveness takes place.
Hence when he comes into the world he says: “‘Sacrifice and offering you did not want, but you prepared a body for me. … Then I said, ‘Look! I am come (in the roll of the book it is written about me) to do your will, O God.’”
By the said “will” we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all time.

… and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

ISRAEL HAS NO PLACE ANY MORE IN THE PLAN OF SALVATION (?)

God did not reject his people, whom he first recognized.

For the gifts and the calling of God are not things he will regret.

THE 144 000 AND THE MASS NO ONE CAN COUNT
And I heard the number of those who were sealed, 
a hundred and forty four thousand, sealed out of every tribe of the sons of Israel:
Out of the tribe of Judah twelve thousand sealed; out of the tribe of Reu′ben twelve thousand, etc.
Why should we take the number of 144 000 from Rev. 7:4-9 litterally, but not the names of the tribes?
The holy Spirit only for the 144.000 (?)

However, YOU are in harmony, not with the flesh, but with the spirit, if God’s spirit truly dwells in YOU. But if anyone does not have Christ’s spirit, this one does not belong to him.
If, now, the spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in YOU, he that raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also make YOUR mortal bodies alive through his spirit that resides in YOU
1 Cor. 12:3
… nobody can say: “Jesus is Lord!” except by holy spirit.
Luke 11:13
Therefore, if YOU, although being wicked, know how to give good gifts to YOUR children, how much more so will the Father in heaven give holy spirit to those asking him!

… “If YOU love me, YOU will observe my commandments; and I will request the Father and he will give YOU another helper to be with YOU forever, the spirit of the truth, which the world cannot receive …

John 6:53-58
Accordingly Jesus said to them: “Most truly I say to YOU, Unless YOU eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, YOU have no life in yourselves. He that feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has everlasting life, and I shall resurrect him at the last day; for my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. He that feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood remains in union with me, and I in union with him. Just as the living Father sent me forth and I live because of the Father, he also that feeds on me, even that one will live because of me. …
He that feeds on this bread will live forever.”
1 Cor. 10:16-17
The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a sharing in the blood of the Christ? The loaf which we break, is it not a sharing in the body of the Christ? Because there is one loaf, we, although many, are one body, for we are all partaking of that one loaf.
If the Lord Jesus has come back in 1914, why do the “ointed ones” participate at the Last Supper? This has to be done until he arrives (1 Cor. 11:26)?
Only the 144 000 will enter into the new Jerusalem (?)
Abraham and the prophets don’t belong to the 144 000. Only this group is going to heaven. How do you explain this text:
But now they are reaching out for a better [place], that is, one belonging to heaven. Hence God is not ashamed of them, to be called upon as their God, for he has made a city ready for them (Hebr. 11:13-16).
Rev. 22:14-15
Happy are those who wash their robes, that the authority [to go] to the trees of life may be theirs and that they may gain entrance into the city by its gates. Outside are the dogs and those who practice spiritism and the fornicators and the murderers and the idolaters and everyone liking and carrying on a lie.’
Also you are or a dog outside or a redeemed one.
Only the 144 000 will reign as kings (?)
Rev. 20:4-6
And I saw thrones, and there were those who sat down on them, and power of judging was given them. Yes, I saw the souls of those executed with the ax for the witness they bore to Jesus and for speaking about God, and those who had worshiped neither the wild beast nor its image and who had not received the mark upon their forehead and upon their hand. And they came to life and ruled as kings with the Christ for a thousand years. (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. Happy and holy is anyone having part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no authority, but they will be priests of God and of the Christ, and will rule as kings with him for the thousand years.
2 Tim. 2:12
… if we go on enduring, we shall also rule together as kings; if we deny, he also will deny us.
There are also two extremes: or you become king with Him or you are lost.
JESUS’ BODY DIDN’T ARISE (?)
Mark. 16:6
He said to them: “Stop being stunned. YOU are looking for Jesus the Nazarene′, who was impaled. He was raised up, he is not here. See! The place where they laid him.
Luke 24:38-43
So he said to them: “Why are YOU troubled, and why is it doubts come up in YOUR hearts? If this wasn’n the earthly body of Christ, the he he had convinced them with a ly, and these wounds He showed weren’t the real ones … And where was His body then?
Acts 2:31

RESURRECTION OF THE BELIEVERS TOOK PLACE IN 1914 (?)

HELL AS AN ETERNAL PUNISHMENT DOESN’T EXIST (?)

But as for the cowards and those without faith and those who are disgusting in their filth and murderers and fornicators and those practicing spiritism and idolaters and all the liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulphur. This means the second death.”
He that bears witness of these things says, ‘Yes; I am coming quickly.’
“Amen! Come, Lord Jesus.”

And the One seated on the throne said: “Look! I am making all things new.”
